Invitation to Join the NHS Futures Workspace for the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway (PEPP) Pilot 2026/27

For newly qualified pharmacists registering in August 2026

 

NHS England is inviting newly qualified pharmacists to join the  NHS Futures Early Career Pharmacist Workspace which includes Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway (PEPP) pilot updates and information.

We would be grateful if foundation year supervisors and contractors could share this information with trainees before registration.


What is the pilot pathway?

From the Summer 2026, NHS England will pilot a new education and training pathway, the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway (PEPP), for newly qualified Early Career Pharmacist prescribers in their first year of post-registration practice.

Your engagement with the pilot development will enable us to shape and develop the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway (PEPP).

What information is available?

The workspace currently includes:

  •  A narrated slide deck for employers and supervisors
  • Draft Terms of Participation for employers, including educational supervision standards
  • Draft Learning Agreement
  • Resources to support the upskilling of supervisors

What happens next?

Further information and updates will be posted on the NHS Futures Workspace including how to participate when the application window opens.

We welcome feedback on the pilot pathway in development, and a feedback form has been included in the NHS Futures Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway pilot workspace.
